⚠️ Artificial Streaming Policy Update
Spotify defines artificial streaming as any activity that does not reflect genuine listener intent. This includes:
Using third-party services that guarantee streams for a fee
Employing bots, scripts, or other automated methods to increase play counts
Such practices violate Spotify’s terms and can result in serious consequences for both artists and distributors.
🚫 New Policy Effective April 1, 2024
As of April 1, 2024, Spotify has introduced a new policy that allows them to charge labels and distributors per track when flagrant artificial streaming is detected.
These charges will be billed directly to the label or distributor, not the artist.
It is then up to the distributor or label to take appropriate action to deter or penalize the violating artist.
