To help ensure your releases are successfully delivered to TikTok, all content must comply with TikTok's metadata, artwork, audio, and copyright requirements.
TikTok reviews all delivered content for compliance. Releases that do not meet these standards may be blocked from delivery, removed from TikTok's catalog, or otherwise restricted in accordance with TikTok's policies.
Following the guidelines below can help prevent delays or delivery issues.
Audio Requirements
Your audio should be complete, high quality, and free from technical issues.
TikTok may reject or remove content that includes:
- Blank audio or extended periods of silence
- Hidden recordings or unauthorized edits
- Generic sound effects or white noise in place of musical content
- Excessive spoken-word content that is not intended as part of the musical work
- Poor audio quality, including clipping, distortion, or other noticeable audio defects
- Unauthorized mashups, viral mixes, or recordings containing copyrighted material without the necessary rights
Metadata Requirements
Accurate metadata helps ensure your music is properly identified and delivered.
When submitting your release:
- Use the official artist name(s).
- Enter accurate album and track titles.
- Provide valid ISRC and UPC information.
- Correctly identify explicit content when applicable.
- Do not include promotional language, version information, URLs, emojis, or unrelated text in artist names or release titles.
- Do not mark instrumental recordings as Explicit.
- Ensure artist credits accurately reflect the contributors to your release.
Cover Artwork Requirements
Cover artwork should accurately represent your release and comply with TikTok's content standards.
Artwork should:
- Meet our artwork specifications.
- Accurately represent the release and credited artist(s).
- Not contain references to unrelated brands, products, or services.
- Not contain pornographic, violent, hateful, or otherwise prohibited imagery.

Copyright Requirements
Only upload content that you own or have the legal rights to distribute.
TikTok may reject or remove content that:
- Copies another creator's sound recording without authorization
- Contains unauthorized samples or recordings
- Re-uploads content that has previously been removed due to copyright or ownership disputes
- Otherwise infringes on the intellectual property rights of another party
Prohibited Content
TikTok may reject releases containing prohibited or misleading information, including:
- Offensive, hateful, or discriminatory artist names
- Offensive or inappropriate album or track titles
- Offensive, hateful, discriminatory, or inappropriate audio content
- Artwork containing prohibited imagery
- Metadata intended to mislead users or impersonate another artist
What happens if my release doesn't meet TikTok's requirements?
If your release does not comply with TikTok's content standards, TikTok may:
- Block the release from being delivered.
- Remove the release from TikTok's catalog.
- Restrict the release from certain TikTok services or features.
- Require metadata or content corrections before the release can be accepted.
If your release is affected, you'll typically need to correct the issue and submit an updated version before it can be delivered successfully.
