🎬 Video Upload Specs for Distribution

When uploading music videos or visual content through Roc Nation Distribution, it’s important to follow these technical specifications to ensure your content looks and performs its best across all platforms.

📁 File Container

We accept the following video containers:

  • .MOV

  • .MP4

These formats are industry standard and ensure compatibility with most digital service providers (DSPs) and video platforms.

🎥 Video Codec

Your video must be encoded using one of the following codecs:

  • Apple ProRes 422 HQ (🎯 Preferred for highest quality)

  • H.264 (💡 Widely accepted and compressed for faster delivery)

📏 Resolution Guidelines

✅ Preferred Resolution

  • 1920x1080 (1080p Full HD)

✅ Minimum Accepted Resolution

  • 1280x720 (720p HD)

✅ Maximum Accepted Resolution

  • Up to 3840x2160 (4K UHD)
    (only if using ProRes 422 HQ)

📌 We recommend uploading at 1080p using ProRes 422 HQ whenever possible for the best balance of quality and compatibility.

🚫 Not Accepted

Please avoid uploading videos that:

  • Use codecs outside of ProRes or H.264

  • Are below 720p resolution

  • Contain watermarks, placeholder content, or test cards

  • Include embedded subtitles or burnt-in graphics unless intentional

✅ Final Checklist Before Upload

Make sure your video:

  • Is in .mov or .mp4 format

  • Uses ProRes 422 HQ (ideal) or H.264 codec

  • Meets or exceeds 720p resolution

  • Does not include black bars, silence, or unfinished footage

  • Is named clearly (e.g., “SongTitle_OfficialVideo_1080p.mov”)
